Caveman revisited

July 30, 2009

In Portugal, police have arrested a fugitive that has been on the run for over sixteen years. During this time, he lived in caves in his native region of Vieira do Minho, ate mostly fruits and vegetables and lived on the medication brought to him by some relatives. The sour part of the story is that these meds are probably how the police finally found him.

The was convicted for murder in 1983 and escaped after 10 years in jail in 1993. He fled to the caves where he succesfully evaded the law, untill now that is. Police say that when they arrested the man, he was looking bewildered, had a long beard but whas otherwise healthy. They arrested him after they started a new operation, aptly named ‘Operation Cro-Magnon’.
